    Full REALTOR® membership will be granted after the following requirements are met:

    1. A completed membership application, including a signature from the applying agent, must be submitted.

    2. The one-time application fee of $200 and appropriate dues must be paid at the time of application. The application fee is waived for REALTOR® members in good standing who are transferring their membership to Sumner REALTORS® from another REALTOR® association. Dues and application fee are non-refundable.

    3. New applicants shall be granted a provisional membership upon receipt by staff of all necessary items (completed application, real estate license number, payment for dues and application fee, and if necessary a letter of membership in good standing from former association). Provisional members shall be considered REALTORS® and shall be subject to all of the privileges and obligations of a REALTOR® membership until all requirements have been met. New applicants must complete the New Member Orientation Class (NMO) at the first offering after their application has been filed. When possible 10 days notice will be given. New applicants failing to attend the first class offered will be fined $25 for each NMO missed up to 3 times. New applicants who have missed 3 scheduled NMO classes must begin the membership process again, pay $75 fine for failing to attend 3 scheduled NMO, complete a new application and pay dues and application fees again. New applicants making NMO reservations and not keeping them will be charged a $25 fine. Any new applicant failing to attend any portion of the course in which he/she is enrolled is required to make up that portion at the next scheduled NMO session. Those failing to makeup that missed portion of the class will not receive credit for completing the class.

    4. Upon receipt of the completed application and payment of dues and fees, the applicant is given provisional status. Full REALTOR® membership will be given once the New Member Orientation course is complete and the Board of Directors has approved membership.


    New Member Orientation is held once every other month in the Sumner REALTORS® training room and is held from 8:00am – 4:30pm. New Member Orientation carries six (6) hours of continuing education credit and there is no charge for the course.

    Yes, if you are a new applicant and do not currently hold REALTOR® membership at another REALTOR® association or board. No, if you are applying for a secondary REALTOR® membership or are currently a REALTOR® member in good standing of another REALTOR® board or association who is simply transferring membership.

  • Annual membership dues are due on December 31 of each year; however, applications received after January 31 are prorated on a monthly basis for state and national and on a quarterly basis for local dues. Primary membership dues for Sumner REALTORS® include dues to Tennessee REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®.


    REMINDER: This application is the first stage in becoming a REALTOR® member of Sumner REALTORS®. You must complete New Member Orientation (held every other month in the training room on site) before this application is approved and your membership is final.

  • To Sumner REALTORS® I hereby apply for REALTOR® membership and am enclosing payment for the $200 one-time application fee and my current year’s dues. My application fee and dues will be returned to me in the event of non-election.

    In the event of my election, I agree to abide by the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS®, including the obligation to arbitrate any existing or future disputes with another member in accordance with the association’s arbitration procedures. I understand that, after the initial requirement, I will be required to complete a Code of Ethics course within specific 2-year periods.

    I also agree to abide by the Constitution, Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of Sumner REALTORS®, Tennessee REALTORS®, and the National Association of REALTORS®, which are made available to me at the office of Sumner REALTORS® and online at their respective websites.

    If required, I further agree to satisfactorily complete within the 3 class offerings time period the New Member Orientation course. I further agree that my act of paying dues shall evidence my initial and continuing commitment to abide by the Code of Ethics, Constitutions, Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and duty to arbitrate, all as from time to time amended.

    I irrevocably waive all claims against the association or any of its officers, directors, or members, for any acts in electing or failing to elect, advancing, suspending, expelling or otherwise disciplining me as an applicant or as a member. Upon the expiration of said membership for any cause, I will discontinue the use of the term REALTOR® and return to the association all certificates, signs, seals or other indications of membership in the National Association of REALTORS®. I consent that the association, through its Membership Committee or otherwise, may invite and receive other information and comment about me from any member or other person, and I further agree that any information and comment furnished to the association by any person in response to the invitation shall be conclusively deemed to be privileged and not form the basis of any action by me for slander, libel or defamation of character.

    I understand membership brings certain privileges and obligations that require compliance. I agree that, if accepted for membership in the association, I shall pay the fees and dues as from time to time established. I understand that should I not complete the New Member Orientation course within the prescribed 3 class offerings time period from the date of my application, I will be automatically dropped as an applicant for membership and that there will be no refund of any portion of the fees paid. I hereby certify that the foregoing information furnished by me is true and correct, and I agree that failure to provide complete and accurate information as requested, or any misstatement of fact, shall be grounds for revocation of my membership if granted. Note: Payments to Sumner REALTORS® are not deductible as charitable contributions. Such payments however, may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expenditure.

    By signing below, I consent the REALTOR® associations (local, state, national) and their subsidiaries, if any (e.g. MLS, foundations, etc.) may contact me at the specified address, telephone numbers, fax numbers, e-mail address or other means of communication available. This consent applies to changes in contact information that may be provided by me to the association(s) in the future. This consent recognizes that certain state and federal laws may place limits on communications I am waiving to receive all communications as part of my membership.

    Note: Applicant acknowledges that if accepted as a member and he/she subsequently resigns from the board or otherwise causes membership to terminate with a an ethics complaint pending, the Board of Directors may condition renewal of membership upon applicants certification the he/she will submit to the pending ethics proceeding and will abide by the decision of the hearing panel. If applicant resigns or otherwise causes membership to terminate, the duty to submit to arbitration continues in effect even after membership lapses or is terminated, provided the dispute arouse while applicant was a REALTOR®.
