Sumner REALTORS®, the nonprofit trade association representing approximately 900 local REALTORS® and affiliated professionals, has announced its Awards of Excellence recipients for 2020. The association named 121 local REALTOR® recipients in various award categories based on net sales volume of at least $1 million.
Many real estate companies issue their own awards to recognize agents for outstanding sales performance. The association’s annual Awards of Excellence showcase members who outperform their peers in Sumner County and across the Middle Tennessee region.
“The Awards of Excellence is usually our biggest event of the year. REALTORS® look forward to the camaraderie and competition they get only through the association. But we could not in good conscience host an in-person awards banquet with our typical scale of 200 people given the lingering pandemic. We chose instead to announce the recipients virtually today so we still give our members the recognition they deserve. The men and women who have earned these awards are the best of the best in Sumner County,” said Shellie Young Tucker, ABR, CRS, C2EX, GRI, 2021 President of Sumner REALTORS®.
Sumner REALTORS® announced the award recipients today through a professionally produced video posted on the association’s website and YouTube channel. Tucker and CEO Dave Chaney are personally delivering awards to recipients in the coming days and weeks, and the association is encouraging member companies to use the video to celebrate with their colleagues in smaller groups for health and safety reasons.
The COVID-19 pandemic created unique conditions that led to an unexpected banner year for many in the real estate business across the U.S., particularly in hot markets like Sumner County and the greater Nashville area. There were (and still are) not enough properties to meet the demand generated by record-low mortgage rates. Buyer competition drove up average sales prices approximately 11% in Sumner County between January 2020 and January 2021. Many single-family homes in Sumner County are under contract within 24-48 hours after they are listed for sale, with the overall average days on market just 19 days in February.
The association revealed as part of the Awards of Excellence that Susan Greene, AHWD, CRB, CRS, C2EX, e-PRO, GRI, PSA, RENE, SFR, SRS, has been named REALTOR® of the Year for 2020. The REALTOR® of the Year Award is the highest honor bestowed on any member. Candidates are nominated by their peers, and a panel of judges determines the recipient based on achievements and contributions to the profession and the community, among other factors.
Greene’s decorated real estate career spans more than 40 years. She is currently the managing broker of Crye-Leike REALTORS® in Gallatin. She has earned more than a dozen industry certifications and designations, is a Lifetime Award of Excellence recipient, was a Major Investor for the REALTOR® Political Action Committee in 2020, and has held numerous leadership positions with Sumner REALTORS®, including serving as Chair of the association’s Professional Development Committee and on the Board of Directors.
